Our School
As Principal of the Jericho State School, I would like to invite you to visit and browse throughout our site.
We are a small one teacher school situated on the Jordan Creek on the western edge of the Jericho Shire between Emerald and Longreach. Our school population, at present, is 15 students ranging from Prep to year 7.
My staff consists of one permanent Teacher Aide, one Casual Teacher Aide/Cleaner, one Administration Officer and one Groundscare Officer.
We have an active P & C who tirelessly fundraise to give our students the little extras that we need and wouldn't otherwise be able to afford to purchase.
One of these little extras is donations towards our school camps each year. This year our little school is heading off to Whitsunday Voices in Mackay for 5 days.
Each year we also attend a Sports Camp in Windorah, where specialised sports coaches come and teach our students the skills of a variety of sports they would not usually have access to because of our remoteness.
Jericho State School is also a member of the Outback Advantage, which is a cluster of small schools in the Longreach District, who believe that there are many potential advantages to being educated in a small rural multi-age school.
We are working together to create and maintain sustainable structures which foster life long learners who have developed effective academic and social skills.
We value:

Our one teacher school provides a multigrade co-educational education for the students from this largely cattle grazing area.
